Colin Milton Thiele AC was an Australian author and educator. He was renowned for his award-winning children's fiction, most notably for the novel Storm Boy.
On 4 September 2006, Thiele died from heart failure in a Brisbane hospital aged 85.

Peter Geoffrey Brock AM was one of Australia's best-known and most successful Australian motor racing driver.
On September 8 2006, he skidded off a downhill left-hand bend for over 50 metres in his 2001 Daytona Coupé and hit a tree. 61-year-old Brock was killed instantly.
